About the Dollard Water
Polo Club
The Dollard Water Polo
Club is one of the top water polo clubs in Canada. In
2009-2010, over 150 athletes are participating under the
direction of 13 coaches led by Mentor Coach Pat Oaten, Coach
of the Canadian Senior Women’s National Team. Three of our
other coaches are involved with National or Provincial
teams. Scott Smith is the Canadian Junior Men’s National
Team assistant coach, Justin Oliveira is a co-coach of the
Quebec Women’s Team and Brian Parillo is a co-coach of the
Quebec Men’s Team.
Our club has teams
playing at all levels from Mini to Senior. Dollard Water Polo
teams have won numerous National Championships over the past few
years, including four last year. This year the 16U, 18U, 22U and
Senior groups are expected to participate in these
Championships. The club will be hosting three tournaments during
the year. The Autumn Classic will take place in November and the
Nelson McDunnough Tournament in February.
We will also be hosting the Bantam Provincials in May.
Many of our players have
been chosen to represent Quebec in international competition
over the next 2 years. As well, some of the athletes are trying
out to be chosen to represent Canada on the Canadian National
Junior teams that will also participate in international
competitions. Over the coming years some of these athletes will
graduate to Canada’s National Senior teams. DDO Water Polo
currently has over 16 athletes training at the National Training
Centers in Calgary and Montreal.
